Lab Packer 101 (4 CMPs) Presented by Alan Call and David Stevenson
Sunday, August 9, 2026 (1 - 4 PM), $150/person

This course is designed for EHS staff who want to either begin a self-pack program at their institution or are interested in learning more about the RCRA and DOT rules that cover lab packing operations to have a better understanding of the process when a vendor is performing lab pack operations on their site. The course will cover:
 

  • Setting up a self-pack program

  • What is a lab pack / lab packing

  • Types of lab packs

  • Disposal optionsWaste classification

  • Inventory, Segregation, and Storage

  • General lab packing requirements

  • Hazard class specific lab packing requirements

  • Proper shipping names

  • Waste shipments 

It is assumed that participants in this course have a “better than basic” understanding of the RCRA regulations, and a working knowledge of the DOT regulations.

Advanced Lab Packer (4 CMPs) Presented by Alan Call and David Stevenson
Wednesday, August 12, 2026 (1 - 4 PM), $150/person

This course will build on what was covered in the Lab packing 101 class but will dive deeper into the regulations covering the more difficult materials to lab pack such as reactive or pyrophoric materials, toxins, self-reactive materials, inhalation hazards, dioxins, carcinogens, and PCB’s. We will also cover the proper use of DOT special permits as they relate to lab packs and transportation. 

It is assumed that participants in this class are comfortable with the basic concepts and requirements of lab packing materials for disposal. Attendance at the Lab packing 101 class is not required for the advanced class.

Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED Presented by Tara Smith
Thursday, August 13, 2026 (8 AM - 3:30 PM), $30/person

Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED teaches participants to provide first aid, perform CPR, and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) safely and effectively. Based on the latest American Heart Association Guidelines for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC). The Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Course is designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs an OSHA-compliant course completion card—or anyone who simply wants to be ready to respond in an emergency. Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED teaches the lifesaving skills of first aid, CPR and AED including:

  • First aid basics

  • Medical emergencies

  • Injury emergencies

  • Environmental emergencies

  • Preventing illness and injury

  • Adult CPR and AED use

  • Choking help for an Adult, Child or Infant

  • Drowning response and prevention

  • Opioid-associated life-threatening emergencies

*Card will be sent via e-card within two weeks of course completion.

IATA Provided by Bureau of Dangerous Goods and Sustainable Workplace Alliance

IATA (ICAO) Air Training provides required initial or recurrent training to participants involved with the shipping, handling, and/or transport of dangerous goods by air. Employees who have undergone initial or recurrent training in the past are required to undergo training at least once every two years.

8-Hour HAZWOPER Refresher Provided by P2R Consortium
Sunday, August 9th, 2026 (8AM - 5PM), FREE

The 8-Hour HAZWOPER Refresher is the annual training course required by OSHA for workers who have previously completed the 24 or 40 Hour HAZWOPER certification.  This training covers the requirement in OSHA standards 29 CFR 1910.120 and 29 CFR 1926.65 and ensures individuals remain current on safety practices, regulations, and health hazards associated with hazardous waste operations and emergency response.  

 

The 8-hour HAZWOPER Refresher covers areas of training such as: 

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Decontamination procedures

  • Confined spaces protocols

  • Hazard recognition and risk assessment

  • Emergency response planning and procedures

  • Handling and disposing of hazardous waste

  • Updates on current OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations

DOT Refresher (8-Hours) Provided by Bureau of Dangerous Goods and Sustainable Workplace Alliance
Thursday, August 13, 2026 (8AM - 5PM), FREE

This refresher course covers and helps maintain competencies learned in 49 CFR training. This training is designed for hazmat personnel who handle, prepare for transport, or transport hazardous materials.  This course is required to be completed every three years.
